Community guidelines
Audit Am works only if people can trust what they read. These rules apply to alerts, reports, photos, videos, missing-person posts and chat.
Do
- Report only what you saw, heard or know to be true, as soon as it's safe to do so.
- Say where it is (area, landmark, LGA) and what people should avoid.
- Confirm alerts only if you can see or know they are true. Tap "Not true" if you know they are false.
- For missing persons: post only with the family's or guardian's agreement, and report it to the police too.
- Be respectful in chat. Help people stay safe.
Never
- No jungle justice. Never call for, plan, encourage or celebrate attacks on anyone, including suspected thieves. Call the police.
- No naming or shaming. Don't post the name, face, address, phone number or vehicle plate of a person you suspect, unless the police have officially asked the public for help.
- Never use an alert to target anyone. Don't use alerts, "Near me" or incident updates to find, follow or confront a person, to find out who posted something, or to send people into danger. Don't post a false alert to clear a place or draw people somewhere.
- No graphic images of injured or dead people. No images of children except official missing-child posts approved by a guardian.
- No hate, tribal or religious insults, threats or incitement.
- No fake news, rumours presented as fact, or old incidents posted as new.
- No phone numbers, account numbers or links in chat (they are removed automatically to stop scams).
- No selling, advertising, loans, "investments", job offers or fundraising.
- No political campaigning or party content.
- No impersonating the police, government, our staff or anyone else.
- Nothing that sexualises a child — this is reported to the authorities (see Child safety).
How we enforce
Our systems and De Auditor AI check reports and chat for these problems; our team reviews what is flagged. Photos and videos are checked by a person before they appear, and their hidden location data is removed. Alerts never show who posted them. Users can flag alerts as "Not true" and long-press a chat message to report it. Depending on how serious it is, we may remove the content, hold your future reports for review, limit you to a few reports a day, suspend posting, or close your account. Content showing a threat to life or child abuse may be shared with the police.
Think we made a mistake? Email us through Support and a person will review it.
